Howdy -- I am trying to install Zope-2.5.1, my OpenBSD-2.8, with Python-2.1.3, and it is failing? I did see an older post about using the a (thread) lib from OpenBSD-2.7 but I don't have 2.7?
Is their another work around?
TIA,
David

Upgrade to OpenBSD 3.1 (or 3.0). You will not get any security updates for OpenBSD 2.8, so it's not a smart idea to connect your system to the Internet. Zope works fine out-of-the-box on OpenBSD 3.x.

Nils -- Thanks for you reply. If I know what is broke, more than likely I could download the just source code needed from OpenBSD site and recompile it? Or is the problem a Zope secruity hole? I read a older post that about a problem with "thread" lib ?
If not I'll just put of 2.7 which according to the old posting Zope worked with.
TIA, David
This *might* be an artifact of the way the Zope "tarball" was unpacked on your system. Did you use GNUtar to unpack the archive? If not, try GNUtar instead of the tar program that ships with OpenBSD.

That's wild. I know this is an old mail. But since no replay was forthcoming, I can say that after failing to successfully compile Zope-2.5.1 after checking it out, using gtar instead of tar resulted in a successful Zope-2.5.1 build that succeeded without event.
Thanks, Chris.
