Hello,
I have Zope (2.5.1) installed and have the WebDAV server set up ( -W 8088) and working. I am using win2k web folders to connect to the webdav server. I can connect and browse just fine, but I get an error when I try copy a file from my win2k box to the server. Has anyone found a way around this. Thanks.

Hmmm. Windoze WebDAV is variably broken (it got better - but not perfect - going from WinNT, Win98, Win2K - YMMV). Can't remember the details (having given up and switched to WebDrive or TeamDrive some time ago - see below) but things like .htm files won't copy but .doc files do .....
.... to see how wonderful WebDAV could be at least visit
http://www.webdrive.com/ http://www.teamstream.com/
and download evaluation copies of their WebDAV clients.

Hi,
Is there a way to disable WebDav when downloading word documents? I have a script that generates a word document and lets the user then view it/save it. However, when I serve the document, MsWord and Zope will find that they can communicate through WebDAV and Word will (sometimes) offer the user to save the document on Zope, which won't work because it is generated.

It can be disabled in general by using the -W flag (according to the zope-z2.py I have here)
Adding the flag of "-W -" should disable it. "-W portnumber" would put WebDAV on portnumber. I don't know of any way to disable it specifically for Word, though.

The problem is that Zope's normal HTTP server port also serves out WebDAV :-(
It also includes an MS-Author-Via-DAv header, causing M$ apps to try and open things like word files using WebDAV and trying to lock them in the process. My solution to this was a pretty brutal monkey patch to Zope to stop it including htat header.
It solved my problems but I'm not sure what the 'right' solution is...
cheers,
Chris

Hi,
Thanks for the reactions. I have been trying the -W - solution, but it did not seem to work. Word doesn't seem to mind (or does it remember the old settings).
So how brutal is your solution, Chris?

It's a monkey patch that replaces some of the methods in webdav.py so they don't set an MS_Author_Via_DAV header...
I can mail you the code, just ask off list...

Chris
Hi,
Oberon Medialab is a small software company based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We mainly develop games, screensavers and e-cards for promotional purposes. Client-side is mostly done in flash, backend mostly in Zope. We're currently looking for programmers that can help the backend development, free-lance at first probbaly.
We like to start a project together with the programmer, preferable on site at our office for the first two weeks. After that the programmer can work from home if he/she prefers. We would therefore prefer it if you lived somewhere in the neighbourhood.
If you're interested or if you want to know more, please contact me.

Hi,
Is there anyway to use the Session Data Manager or a related component to measure the length of a session? What I actually would like is an event that fires the moment a session expires and one that fires the moment a session is initiated (well, the last thing you could do by inserting something in the session and checking whether it already was there).
