I'm surprised how building Zope 3.3.1 from source can have eggs 
installed in your system, how does that work?

I do know that we're currently in transition with the egg story. Zope 3 
is moving to eggs and Grok wants to follow. The current hybrid situation 
is indeed quite error prone.
