[Grok-dev] Grok screencast

One thing I would highly recommend is to use Google Video to host
streaming video. You can then use the <embed> tag to embed the flash
video and let Google handle the bandwidth. Here is an example of the
repoze video:

This is embedded into Plone 3:

Now, if you notice you can click on the video and go to the Google
Video site and you can even download it from there or watch it in a
larger size:

You can always have the raw source video file available, as a link,
but you will reach a much wider audience by using Google Video to host
your screencast. Getting framerates, and codecs correct is an art and
a science, as you need to encode video in a specific codec to allow
quick searching, etc. Just let Google take care of it, and be done
with it. Of course this means people must have flash, but flash is
quickly turning into javascript, as a must have technology even for
linux users.

You can sign up for an account here:

Finally, you might want to see if you can get the same grok branding
attached to the beginning of core grok developer produced videos. I
can help someone come up with a 5 -10 second graphics branding using
Final Cut Studio, if the powers that be are interested.
