Yeah, I've had some issues subscribing gmane to a google-based mailing 
list too. And we've had issues with a monitor that sent a message when 
grok.zope.org was down but it never arrived..

We could move it to zope.org at some point. +1 if the sysadmin group 
wants to take that action. :)
