Good points. Maybe worth breaking out some of the specific parts of  
the howto not covered in the tutorial into a more specific and aptly  
named howtos "Howto implement TinyMCE custom widget".

Anyway, I can promise infinite fortune and great happiness, about the  
timing however. Lets just says it will be handed to you grokwilling  
(inshgrok for those of other native tongues).
