I think ZPatterns could be a great solution to both problems, but, as I
tried to explain in my 'Comments on ZPatterns' post to Zope-Dev, I think
it's starting to get off track due to lack of documentation, too much
jargon/complexity and lots of features which really aren't that
necessary.

My $0.02 as well ;-)
