...FWIW, these kinds of relational issues are some of the core use cases of
the Zope3 ObjectHub (at least in my book), and the issues you raise
(housekeeping) are some of the ones that led to the Zope3 EventService.  So
if you feel like digging in to contributing to the Zope3 effort, these are
places that could use your use cases, not to mention your help!
