[Zope-CMF] Catalog blues

I'm making an obvious (and embarassing, I'm sure) mistake somewhere, but I 
can't find it --- therefore this plea for help.

I have some objects in a catalog, but they don't appear in my searches, not 
even as a manager. As my catalog debuggin skills reduce to (1) are the 
objects in the catalog? (2) do I have the right permissions?, I'm sort of 
stuck.

Any help at all, or a gentle tap with the clue bat, would be vastly 
appreciated.
