IIRC CMFPhoto is based on PIL.  Search thru the product listings on
Zope.Org.  At least one of them states that it is based on PIL.

Additionally, you might just stick with TIFF.  There are several TIFF
viewer plugins around for various browsers, even for Mozilla.
