PasswordResetTool is now available for preview from the CMF Collective:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/collective

This product replaces the "mail forgotten password" feature in
CMFDefault or Plone with a mailback password reset mechanism, a must for
any site using encrypted passwords (and if you're not, you should be.)
To read the docs before downloading, take a look at the ViewCVS at

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/collective/PasswordResetTool/

This is a preview release because ZMI management of the tool has not yet
been implemented. This will not affect the performance of the mechanism,
only its flexibility in deployment, and will be fixed shortly. As the
version number suggests, you should not yet use this on a production
system. Wait for at least the next version (tomorrow!) before doing
that, unless I put a similar warning on that release.

PasswordResetTool, or a closely related descendant, will be included in
Plone 2.1. It will remain available in separate form for earlier Plones
and regular CMF sites.

"Code generators follow the 80/20 rule. They solve most of the problems, but not all of the problems. There are always features and edge cases that will need hand-coding. Even if code generation could build 100 percent of the application, there will still be an endless supply of boring meetings about feature design."
