Do you have tests that show the multiple calls?

I hoped the container events were added in a backwards compatible way. 
If that's not the case I would consider it a bug.

On the trunk __recurse is gone. CMF 1.6 has to work with Zope 2.8 as 
well. So what do you exactly propose?
