[Zope] being slashdotted

Hmm, what is wrong?  I have a 600 MHz Alpha and yet across the
Ethernet I can detect slower initial response time for nabbing stuff
from inside my Zope site, and can see a momentary CPU spike of the
kind that I never see when running solely apache.  This is with Zope
underneath Apache.
