   I am afraid there is at least on buggy browser that try to determine
content type, and if it thinks the data is text or html - just shows it. It
is M$IE.

   Try to set headers:

Content-Type: application/octet-stream
Content-Disposition: inline; filename='thefile_inbrowser.dat'
