[Zope] Zope My/SQL Adapter LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Uh, the path.  I'm a newbie so I still don't quite get it.  If I type $ set I do not see the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or # "set ".  
If I use the command 
#/usr/local/lib/mysql=LD_LIBRARY , I get the same result.  What should I do to correct this problem?

The library loader can't find libmysqlclient.so.6. You can add the path to
your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or create a symlink to the file
from a directory that's already in the library path (like /usr/lib or
/usr/local/lib).
