[Zope] adding XML documents programatically

I know there is a DTML command to create a folder (or other objects =
without using the mangaement interface...  For example, I pulled this =
off the mailinglist archive:

<dtml-call "manage_addFolder('aFolderName', REQUEST=3D_.None)">

What I am looking for is how to add an XML document in a similar =
fashion.  I actually want to call this from within python, but I imagine =
the syntax will be similar.  Is there a way to do this?
