He obviously did.. A talented Python programmer who liked Zope enough to try
it, and then decided [last year, note] that for him there might be a better
way.

Check out some of the work he has done making ZODB accessible to the general
Python programming community, who for whatever reason, may not wish to go
100% Zope.
