[Zope] ongoing: protocol hunting

Hmm, many helpful people, but it seams that I still haven't manage to make  
clear what I am searching for:

All I want to know, is how the CGI (or, for that matter, fastcgi) wrappers  
(programs or what ever you'll call them) and Zope (actually the ZServer)  
kommunicate with each other. When starting Zope, you can define a port  
(socket, either domain or TCP) on which Zope (ZServer?) will listen, with  
the -F options (not to be confused with the HTTP port or FTP port).

I must know what kind of handshaking takes place on this port. Surely  
someone knows ...
