You must make your Product CatalogAware:

from Products.ZCatalog.CatalogPathAwareness import CatalogAware

class BlogClass(CatalogAware, ...):

Depending on your Product you have to call self.reindex_object() after 
changes [esp. for the PropertyManager, which is not CatalogAware by 
default].
