[Zope] Can page templates be the default object created?

If I create a new object via FTP it seems to always turn up as a DTML
document.  Is it possible to make the default object a page template?  I
find it rather cumbersome to have to create a page template in the
management interface, then open it in XEmacs.  I'm using Zope 2.5.1.  I
poked all around my management interface but didn't see anything promising.
