my general solution is something like that:


class foo:


   def somemethod(self):

         myattr = self.getmyattr()

   def getmyattr(self):
         if not hasattr(self, '_v_myattr'):
             myattr = <do something to ...>
         else:
             myattr = getattr('_v_myattr'):
         return myattr
