[Zope] Problems getting zope working on ibook ppc

I got the python sources did ./configure, make,
make test, make
altinstall
Then used the python in the alt install directory
to configure the
zope source :

(./configure
--with-python=/usr/local/bin/python2.3
--prefix=/usr/local/lib/Zope )
and voila!

Move along, nothing to see here........

I'm trying to get zope working on an ibook running
Mandrake 9.1 ppc.
I've got python 2.3.3 installed but couldn't build
zope from sources:
error: invalid Python installation: unable to open
/usr/lib/python2.3/config/Makefile (No such file
or directory)

Found an RPM zope-2.7.0rc2-2mdk.rpm, it installed
OK, however, when I
start it (it uses a script in init.d) I get an
error:

The binary rpm says it requires python 2.3.3, I
would rather install
from source, can anyone help with this?
