I agree, I found ZCML very useful when trying to learn how Zope3
components work.  My first stop are configure.zcml and interfaces.py
files (and of course README.txt and unit tests), from there I get a
pretty good idea which *py files to look at next.  This is the first
time I even attempted to read open source project code and surprised
myself how many things I managed to work out myself this way.  If it
were all a bunch of *py files without ZCML and interfaces I am sure you
would get a lot more questions on this list from me :)
