I didn't know about these, thanks.  I still think that the necessity to
call in thru HTTP to perform a common administrative function eludes
most sysadmins.

Yes.  The current chrism-install-branch is "in the running" for a merge
into the trunk.  Thus, my interest. ;-)

I am surprised at how few signals are available.  You're right.  But
packing is definitely an administrative function, and I think it
deserves some sort of first-class citizenship... maybe we'll work it out
when we come up with an admin socket server. ;-)
