Proposal looks good but given the recent discussions about what should go into 
releases, and the huge delay that has already grown in 2.6's release schedule, 
can I make a loud plea that this be defered until 2.7?

(maybe it'll even give ZC an incentive to get 2.7 out the door some time this 
year ;-)
