I think Philipps book is an excellent help in getting to know Zope 3
with or without Grok. Zcml is only a small facet (IMHO) of all the
wealth of functionality Zope 3 has to offer and for which the book is
very good introduction.

Just remember that you can perform basically the same registrations
and declarations with Grok directives and base classes as is done
through ZCML in the book's examples.
