They are indeed invalidated if you are using Netscape 4.7, which
when I submitted this feature way back inna day, was the only browser
that actually did the invalidation.

I don't know if other browsers do this.

Maybe we should rewrite it to say "Send an Authentication Required
message, which might log you out or might prompt you for a new
username and password, depending on the browser, welcome to the Web
my previously sane friend!"
